There won’t be any drama at the top of the draft Thursday night.
USC quarterback Caleb Williams will be the first overall pick. he knows it. The Bears know that. Everyone knows that.

When Williams was 10 years old, he began dreaming of the day he would hear his name called. He plans to wear a Bears baseball cap. He will hug Commissioner Roger Goodell. He will be posing for photos wearing his No. 1 Bears jersey.
Williams called it “surreal.”
“I’m really ready,” Williams said. “Because I want to get back on the football team. I haven’t been on the football team since November 18th. [for his last game at USC]. So that was probably the most difficult part for me. It’s something I really want to go back to. Get back in the locker room, be around the players, be involved every day and have fun as much as you can. ”
Williams has had dinner with future teammates including TJ Edwards, DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, and has spent plenty of time with general manager Ryan Pauls and coach Matt Eberflus over the past three months. We have strengthened our relationship.
“It was fun being with them,” Williams said of the Poles and Eberflus. “They’re very detailed. They always have a plan. And they seem like very routine things, but I’ve been like that all my life.”
The hard part begins Friday, the first day of the rest of his career.
