Bucs vs. Saints Gameday Inactives For Week 17

The Bucs can clinch their third straight NFC South title with a win over the Saints on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, but they will be without two defensive starters. Inactive players on game day include outside linebacker Shaq Barrett and cornerback Carlton Davis III.

He will start at cornerback, as Zion McCollum has done several times this season as Davis and Jamel Dean battle injuries. He and Dean will look to slow down Derek Carr, Chris Olave, Rashid Shahid, and the rest of New Orleans’ passing attack.

With Barrett out, Tampa Bay will need other pass rushers to step up and put pressure on Carr. But the good news for the Bucs is that they’re getting a lot of contributions from other outside linebackers, whether it’s this year or last year. Heading into Sunday, Yaya Diaby leads the team in sacks with 6.5. He has the potential to produce, but Todd Bowles will need some other people.

Anthony Nelson is used to starting, having had to start when Barrett tore his Achilles tendon last year. Nelson has three sacks and six tackles for loss this year, and will be required to do more on Sunday. Getting more from Joe Tryon-Soyinka would help as well, as he’s stuck with four sacks and seven tackles for loss heading into Week 17.

It’s also worth noting that undrafted free agent Marquise Watts will play in Sunday’s game against New Orleans.

The Saints were already without several key players before the weekend began, with Ryan Ramczyk on injured reserve and Marshon Lattimore and Michael Thomas yet to return from injured reserve. .
