The Bucks need a slot cornerback and an extra outside linebacker. Both Banks and McDonald are considered first-round picks and could serve as Day 1 starters for Tampa Bay as draft picks for the Bucks.
CB Deonte Banks, OLB Will McDonald fit in Bucks draft
Maryland primarily used Deonte Banks as an outside cornerback, but his speed and agility make him perfect for moving inside to cover slots. At 6 feet, 197 pounds, and 4.35 speed, Banks is sized well enough to work in Todd Bowles’ plans, and this Bucks will certainly speed up his drafted target, the Tampa Bay defense. . At worst, he’s an incredibly solid starter outside of the Bucks.
Banks recorded only two interceptions, including one last year, and had eight pass breaks. But he does such a great job of mirroring and blanketing receivers that he doesn’t allow many catches.
Banks is probably a top 20 pick and is considered one of the top 3-4 cornerbacks in this draft class. The Bucks also acquired Illinois cornerback Quan Martin and Kansas State cornerback Julius Brentz. Top 30 visits.
Iowa State’s Will McDonald plays bigger than his 6-foot-3-inch, 239-pound stature suggests. McDonald has unusual athleticism and the ability to bend. Bucks is looking for a proven producer when it comes to rushing passers-by. No player has been more productive in this draft than McDonald, who terrified the Big XII with 34 sacks, 40.5 tackles, 10 forced fumbles and seven pass breaks in five seasons.
McDonald’s is slow in the first round and early in the second. He deserves to be Tampa Bay’s first pick, especially if the team can trade down in the first round to get more picks. With Tryon Soyinka failing to exceed four sacks last year, the Bucks need a proven pass rusher like McDonald’s.
McDonald is one of five edge rushers the Bucks have acquired. top 30 visits, They include Nolan Smith of Georgia, BJ Ojulari of LSU, Felix Anudike Uzoma of Kansas State University, and Lucas Van Ness of Iowa.
