The program applies to pregnant women in Cobb’s Creek, Strawberry Mansion and Nicetown Tioga, which have the highest rates of low birth weight babies.

The Income Guarantee Program is reserved for 250 individuals.

As a bonus, interested participants will receive financial counseling, lactation support and a doula.

Stacy Kalem, director of the Department of Health’s maternal, child, and family health division, unveiled the pilot at City Hall on Monday.

“We are looking to raise a total of $6 million, so this is a call to potential funders looking to support pregnant people and their babies,” Kalem said.

To be eligible, the expectant mother’s income must be less than $100,000 annually.
