in a ferocious rush Chaos at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Air India on Tuesday issued a recommendation asking domestic passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3.5 hours before departure, as opposed to the 60-minute rule for domestic flights. Meanwhile, an international passenger is asked to arrive four hours before his flight.

Airlines are also advising all passengers to carry only one carry-on bag for seamless security checks and full web check-in for expedited boarding.

“Passengers are advised to arrive at least 3.5 hours for domestic flights and 4 hours for international flights before their flight departure time to expedite their journey at the airport,” Air India tweeted.

Delhi Airport has witnessed massive congestion over the past week with more people than usual. The government took action and summoned the CEO of Delhi International Airport Company (DIAL) on the matter.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation also ordered congestion mitigation measures, urging airlines to fully staff all check-in and baggage drop counters to ensure a smooth flow of passengers.

Earlier today, a budget career IndiGo advised passengers Arrive at the airport at least 3.5 hours before domestic flight departure and carry 1 piece of baggage up to 7kg.

IndiGo also advised passengers to use Gates 5 and 6 to enter Terminal 3 at the airport, as they are closest to the airline’s check-in counters.

On Monday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradhitya Scindia made a surprise visit to Delhi Airport after a flood of complaints on social media platforms and delays due to congestion.
