The late Richard Simmons’ social media staff surprised fans by publishing a post approved by the fitness guru on July 14, the day after his sudden death at the age of 76.
“Richard worked hard on this post for you all,” read a message written to his X account @theweightsaint. “He had lots of ideas and worked on them in advance… he revised each one until they were just how he wanted them before posting.”
She continued, “As you all know, at the weekend he just shares photos with captions. He always has a photo picked out for the upcoming weekend and a caption written by Friday. So here is a post that Richard was planning to share with you all last Sunday and thought you might like to see.”
“This is the post Richard had planned for you on Sunday, July 14th, 2024.”
The video ended with a message that Richard likely sent directly to his fans: “I’ll take you to the moon and look at the stars. Love, Richard.”
The photo, which shows a gray-haired Simmons wearing a NASA spacesuit and sporting a gentle smile, was taken to mark the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing this week.
