SANTA CLARA — The 49ers had precious little time to bask in the glory of their historic come-from-behind victory in the NFC Championship Game.

I returned to work on Monday.

Coach Kyle Shanahan finished a meeting with the 49ers’ quarterback room and went over every snap of Brock Purdy in the team’s 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions.

Five minutes later, he was on a conference call with Bay Area reporters.

“The tape is over,” Shanahan said. “I’m really hurting right now, but yesterday is over. It’s time to move on.”

The coaching staff went over all the coaching points with the players during Sunday’s game. There were then some things that needed to be taken care of off the field before the players were excused for the next two days.

“Our staff will be holding a Super Bowl meeting for the families to get tickets and everything out of the way,” Shanahan said. tomorrow. “

The 49ers have Tuesday and Wednesday off, but Shanahan and his staff are scheduled to meet to develop a game plan for Sunday, Feb. 11, when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl III in Las Vegas. is.

The Chiefs have made this an annual tradition. Andy Reid’s team advanced to its fourth Super Bowl in five seasons with a 17-10 road victory over the AFC’s top-seeded Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Shanahan has been here before, too.

He was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons’ Super Bowl run seven years ago.

In his third season in San Francisco, the 49ers advanced to Super Bowl LIV, where they lost to Kansas City.

The 49ers have a week to build so they can complete most of their preparations before departure.

The team practices Thursday, Friday and Saturday as if preparing for this weekend’s game.

With so many forces moving in different directions in Super Bowl City, most of the work must be completed at the team facility in Santa Clara before leaving for Las Vegas on Sunday.

“Growing up, all the teams I talked to, that was one of the most important things,” Shanahan said. “If you wait there to do something, you get very busy.

“You can always modify or enhance it, but you’ll want to get most of the heavy lifting done before you get there.”
