It’s becoming common for TikTok workers to not give two weeks’ notice if they feel they’re being treated unfairly at work.

TikTok user Layla (@thelaylaleilyani) recorded her last day at work. She was the only one who knew that this would be her last working day. She left work during her lunch break, and she decided never to return.

In the video, which has been viewed more than 634,000 times, Leila asks her 11,000 followers and other viewers to “come with me to quit my job without saying a word.” Ta. But the volume is quite loud. ”

The video was shown in Layla’s workspace. She packed her things and wrote in black marker on a sticky note on her little finger: I’m not coming back. thank you. “

“This is not the place for me. I’m not coming back,” she said, revealing she made the decision over lunch.

She then delved into the “backstory” behind the final decision. When her boss came to her and knew that she only saw her job as “a job,” she said, “If[she]wants to quit, she can quit.” she said she was told.

Layla’s video ends with her heading to her car. “That’s it. We went out,” she said.

in follow up video, Leila revealed more details about why she quit. She was hired as an administrative assistant through a temp agency, but she said her work environment wasn’t the best from day one. She said the worker who trained her on her first day made a “rude” comment toward her. Leila said she told her employee that she had a background in human resources, and she told her that “they needed to turn away all her human resources work.” “I said,” she said.

“I was also told that if I did the snatching, I would be beaten in the parking lot,” she added.

She said the rude comments didn’t stop even after she went to human resources with her concerns. “I also learned that I was unable to retain anyone in the position I currently hold due to high turnover,” she added, which was a red flag.

She said the temp agency helped her transfer to a new office within the same company. She said she was eventually given a job outside of her wheelhouse, and while she said she didn’t care, she answered honestly when she asked about it. “[I]told them I didn’t like this job and I didn’t plan on doing it long term,” she said. “Ultimately, I wanted to pursue a career in human resources.”

All of her viral videos appeared there.

In the comments section, viewers praised Layla for quitting her job, pointing out that “being passionate about your job is not a requirement for getting it done.”

“‘Cause you only see this as a job.’ Well, what else are you supposed to see as? I’m glad you left, there’s something better for you!” one viewer praised.

“‘Think of this as a job’, that’s what it is,” said another.

Leila never mentioned the name of the company or temp agency. The Daily Dot reached out to Layla through direct messages on Instagram and comments on TikTok.
