A podcast theme song may only play for a few seconds at the beginning and end of an episode, but the short clip sets the tone for the show.
To find the perfect theme song, I spent hours clicking through online music libraries, including the Free Music Archive, to find just the right mix of seriousness and playfulness to encapsulate my weekly interview show about the future of learning. I looked for a song. And we felt lucky to have found an electronic artist who was willing to release unique yet catchy tracks royalty-free (and within our price range).
We’ve been using a song by an artist called Comic as our theme music for years. And I’ve always wondered who this artist is. And I wanted to thank them. So for this week’s episode, we tracked down the source of this music and asked for an interview.
It turns out that Komiku, whose first name is Rose, but asked not to reveal her full name, is Komiku (she also works as a musician under the pseudonym Rrrrrose Azerty and lives in Marseille, France). I make a living as an independent creator and music teacher). She has strong feelings about the importance of injecting creativity into even the most mundane parts of everyday life. This song we use has an amazing story behind its origin.
This week on the EdSurge Podcast, we talk with Komiku about her philosophy and music, the unusual music workshops she teaches, and her advice for educators. You can then hear the process of asking Komiku to create a new theme song for the EdSurge podcast, and hear the debut of the resulting score.
