The city of Atlanta will host two major events on Thursday night: a CNN presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump and a Copa America match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Of course, that means Thursday’s commute will be significantly affected.

Mike Shields of Triple Team Traffic Several roads have been closed in the area surrounding the debate in Midtown.

Police closed 10th Avenue from State Street to Spring Street, and Fowler Street from 6th Avenue to 10th Avenue. The blockade will last until the debate ends and the candidates leave the CNN campus in Techwood.

Shields said there will also be phased closures of Interstate 75 and Interstate 85 as candidates arrive Thursday afternoon.

Biden is scheduled to attend the debate from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, while Trump is scheduled to attend from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

No roads have been closed near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but Atlanta police are urging people traveling to the USA vs. Panama game to take MARTA or get downtown with plenty of time.
