New details have emerged surrounding the arrest of Jillian Lauren, the bestselling author and wife of Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner.
When Lauren was at her Los Angeles home on Tuesday afternoon, her life was caught up in fate. She was shot by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department press releasea hit-and-run accident at 3:25pm on the nearby 134 highway, with three suspects fleeing to her neighborhood.
Police arrive to search for the suspect and find Lauren in the backyard where he painted the gun.
The release said she was ordered to drop the handgun, but refused. Now, LA Times Report Police claim she fired a gun at the officers – that’s when she was shot.
LAPD previously revealed that after Jill was shot, she ran back home, but later left. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Station took her to the hospital.
The news release confirmed that the case is under investigation, adding that he found a 9mm handgun at Lauren’s home.
The Times added that police investigated the shell case at the scene and reviewed the video footage before arresting Gillian on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer.
The paper reports no charges have been filed so far, and confirmed that if she is found guilty, Lauren could face a sentence of five, seven or nine years. Using firearms can enhance the sentence.
Lauren was released Wednesday night after posting $1 million bail. Her court date is set for April 30th.
The Times said Gillian’s manager, Charlie Fusco, had not commented on the issue.
Her husband Scott will be performing with Weezer at Coachella this weekend.
He was asked how Gillian was doing while walking the dog and said, “She’s fine, thank you for asking.”
Gillian has been married to Schliner since 2005 and shares two children.
She is known for her books, “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” and “Facing the Most Prolific Serial Killers in The Monster: Afsing America.”
