Online retailer Wayfair has left customers baffled after it reportedly delivered a chair with just two legs. How does the company handle the allegations? Request for “proof” that the remaining two legs are missing.

On April 26, TikTok duo Safina and Tahoor shared a short clip under the handles @safina.and.tahoor. Their video, which captured the absurdity of the situation, has since gone viral. The total number of views to date has exceeded 8.4 million.

The video begins with an on-screen caption. “Wayfair delivered this chair with two legs missing. They wanted proof that it didn’t have legs.” Safina, holding the camera, struggles to contain her laughter.

The camera first photographs an empty cardboard box. Panning further, a two-legged chair with Tahor enters the frame. Tahor scratches his head. He then sarcastically lifted a nearby blanket, as if trying to prove that the missing leg was not there.

In the comments section, viewers had a lot to say about Wayfair.

“Wayfair sent me a desk with four legs that bent the same way. They asked me to prove it, so I took a video of the moment the desk fell over.” one commenter wrote.

“Why would someone lie about something like that?” added a second man.

“How do you prove you don’t have something?!” a third person asked.

“This happened to us so we sent a lot of pictures of nothing,” another shared.

Wayfair has a pattern of asking for proof.

This isn’t the first time Wayfairs has made bizarre requests for “proof” that products are in short supply or malfunctioning. Back in November, one TikToker complained that she had to film a “stupid video” for a retailer after the retailer sent her a chair that didn’t work properly.

In a previous Daily Dot report, a customer expressed frustration after spending more than $1,000 on a couch that didn’t live up to expectations and felt “catfished” by the online retailer.

But this may become a thing of the past, as Wayfair plans to open its first brick-and-mortar store in what appears to be a shift in strategy. According to CNN“The 150,000 square foot megastore at Eden’s Plaza in Wilmette, Illinois will open to shoppers on May 23.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Safina and Tahoor via comments on TikTok and Wayfair via press email.
