Corbin vs AZ:

“You’ve got to score for him,” Martinez said. “He kept us in the game. We just didn’t score, but I thought he pitched well. He had some big moments, he had a lot of pitches, and he gave it his all.”

“It’s awesome, it’s good,” Martinez said of the win. “So you go out there and you go out there and you’re down one minute and the next minute you’re up one. And our pitchers did a really good job today. Patrick hung in there and our bullpen came in and closed them out. It was a good game. And like I said, they’re tough. Our pitchers are good.”

Winker, the Nationals highlighted in their postgame notes, “has reached base in 13 of his last 14 games and is batting .429 (18-for-42) with one home run, eight RBI, eight runs scored and seven multi-hit games.”
“He’s staying behind the ball, being more selective and swinging at pitches in the zone,” Martinez said when asked about Winker’s recent success. “He’s always been a good hitter. He’s had some injuries, but I love the way he swings the bat.”
Abrams Rollin—Hurt:
C.J. Abrams recorded the first of two hits on Tuesday night to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. The 23-year-old shortstop has gone 15-for-44 (.341 batting average) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 10 RBIs, four walks, two stolen bases and eight runs scored.
Abrams struggled in May, going hitless in 12 of 27 games (.205/.216/.304), but after Tuesday night’s game he has now recorded a hit in 11 of 12 games in June.
Abrams’ manager Davey Martinez spoke about the current situation for Abrams after Tuesday night’s 5-0 loss, in which Abrams had two of the Nationals’ four hits.
“He’s just become a little more patient. He’s trying to throw the ball in the zone and he’s doing a much better job of it,” Martinez said. “We’ve talked a lot about not just going out there and swinging at the first pitch all the time. Trying to see some pitches, trying to get some counts, he’s seeing the ball in the zone a lot better, he’s making better contact, he’s getting hits. And I tell him, ‘Stay in the middle of the field, you’re really good,’ and he’s doing a much better job of it.”

Abrams was originally scheduled to start shortstop for the second of three games against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday in Washington, but was pulled before the game after Davey Martinez finished his pregame meeting with reporters, and it wasn’t clear why he was pulled until the game was won, 3-1.
“CJ injured his left hand or wrist. He’s undergoing an MRI right now and we don’t know what’s going on. We’ll know more tomorrow,” Martinez explained.
“… We really don’t know how this happened, so we’re sending him for an MRI to make sure nothing’s going on,” the captain said of Abrams.
Martinez said he could not provide further details, other than to say Abrams’ wrist “just felt funny.”
