2024 MLB Draft Rankings. 1-3:
With the first three picks in 2024 MLB Draft (10th, 39th, 44th) The Washington Nationals selected infielder/outfielder Seaver King (10th), catcher Caleb Lomavita (39th) and shortstop Luke Dickerson (44th).
The 21-year-old King appeared in 60 games, hitting 14 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 64 RBIs, 25 walks, 11 stolen bases and scoring 59 runs. Wake Forest 2024.
He is batting .301 with a .377 on-base percentage and a .577 slugging percentage this year.
Loma Vita, 21, appeared in 55 games for UC Berkeley in 2024, batting .322/.395/.586 with 13 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs, 52 RBI, 12 walks, 12 stolen bases and 51 runs scored.
Dickerson, 18, batted .466 with 10 doubles, 18 home runs and 45 RBIs this year at Morris Knolls High School in New Jersey.[s]”During his senior season, he played in 33 games, walked 22, stole 25 bases and scored 57 runs,” the Nationals noted in a press release about the selection.
“I think there was a common theme with all three of them today,” Nationals vice president of amateur scouting Danny Haas said after the first three rounds Sunday night.
“They’re very athletic, high-performing players. In our opinion, they always played hard and showed signs of making adjustments.”
“We’ve been tracking them all year,” added Reid Dunn, assistant director of amateur scouting and national crosschecker.
“Any guy up the middle, with some athleticism and potential, was the key,” Dunn explained, “and we felt like we found them really early on, stayed there and got three of them in the draft.”
The 39th pick was acquired Saturday and was traded with the Royals for relief pitcher Hunter Harvey and ’22 second-round pick Cayden Wallace. (KC’s No. 2 prospect, as ranked by MLB Pipeline)), and a competitive balance draft pick.
GM and president of baseball operations Mike Rizzo’s scouting staff was grateful for their boss giving them the extra pick.
“That was awesome. [Rizzo] “They’ve done a great job of acquiring additional resources,” Haas said.
“Without a doubt, that pick definitely increased our yield.”

Hunter Harvey’s post-trade developments:
The Nationals recalled Amos Willingham ahead of their series and first-half finale at Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon to fill Hunter Harvey’s roster spot.
So how does the team plan to fill Harvey’s role in the bullpen after the powerful relief pitcher was traded to the Kansas City Royals?
“Robert [Garcia] “We’ve been pitching well,” Nationals captain Davey Martinez said ahead of the third game of the third innings. Brewers On the weekend.

Harvey, 29, a first-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2013, struggled with injuries during his years with the Orioles and was claimed on waivers, first by the San Francisco Giants (November 2021) and then Washington (March 2022).
He had injury issues during his time with the Nationals, but managed to get his career back on track.
With the Nationals, he pitched in 138 games and 145 innings, recording 10 saves, a 3.17 ERA, a 2.92 FIP, 37 walks and 162 strikeouts.
“It’s been awesome,” Martinez said of how Harvey has resurrected his career during his time with the team.
“He’s learned a lot in the last three years he’s been here.”
“He and Finnegan have been pillars of what we’re trying to do here and what we’re trying to accomplish,” Martinez added.

“So… someone has to step up and take his place.”
The farewell to Harvey was an emotional one for both the Nationals captain and the Nationals clubhouse.
“Yesterday was a rollercoaster of emotions, especially with the bullpen,” he explained.
“They played very well yesterday and we had to break the news to them that one of their brothers is leaving us to play somewhere else. They all understand that. They understand the reality of the game. These things happen. I wish Hunter the best. He’s a big part of the Nationals family. We’re going to miss him and we’re all going to miss him, but he’s going to another team. [he’ll] Try to help them win.”
With the trade deadline (July 30) looming, could his message to players still in the clubhouse be that more deals are possible for the rebuilding franchise?
“For me it’s pretty simple: ‘Hey, stay on your feet,'” Martinez said. “You’re part of the Nationals now.”
