Today’s losses may have been the most frustrating thing of the season for Washingtonians. It had a number of familiar patterns to the losses of other citizens. There were outs on the base pass, including a mysterious stolen basic attempt by Keibert Ruiz. However, the biggest problem is still the bullpen.
After Mackenzie Gore went into six innings and allowed four runs in an unfortunate performance, everything seemed to fall for the fish, but the Nats were still in the game. It was 4-3 games when Jorge Lopez entered the game at the seventh bottom.
But by the time the eighth innings were over, it was an insurmountable 11-3 deficit. Jorge Lopez had an off-game and allowed Georgetown Preparation Alum Matt Marvis to have a three-run home run. However, Lopez had been quite reliable up until then. His Speed has been down this seasonthat will be what you want to monitor.
The player to get caught up in the biggest problem and tight strings is Lucas Sims. As has been the case many times this season, the Sims were not competitive only today. He gave up two hits and walked three times with a disastrous four runs, bringing his season ERA to 12.79.
It’s almost a bad level at Trevor Rosenthal levels. The citizens need to cut bait with right-handed people with 10 miserable appearances. There are better options. I saw Cole Henry replace him. The people need to admit defeat and give their younger arms a chance. I know that Sims is not a man. Would you like to test others?
Hunter Harvey and Robert Garcia have been the pick of exemptions for two of the two outstanding Nats bailers in recent years. Many of the best bullpen arms need to come out of nowhere and be given a chance. Nowadays we have many known products, but they are not performing. Most of us have a longer track record than the Marlins bailouts, but we haven’t done the job as well as the Marlins guys.
Much of this will be back in the offseason. Again, Mike Rizzo couldn’t build a competitive bullpen. Even when NATS won the NL East title and the World Series crown, the original plan failed, making it seem like the bullpen must always have patched its way through the season.
Outside of Kyle Finnegan, no one should be feeling too comfortable right now. Citizens need to find weapons, whether within or outside the organization.
This bullpen disaster also offers opportunities for some. It’s a great opportunity for people like Jackson Rutledge and Cole Henry to establish themselves as big leaguers. The road is winding for both of them and they failed as starters, but now it’s their chance.
The bullpen currently being built is a disaster and needs change. But that change can also give a man a second chance and an opportunity to create something of his own. Young and hungry guys should replace Lucas Sims and Colin Pouch. The bullpen has been a disaster from day one of the reasons, and now it’s time to change things.
