What is a virtual person?
Virtual People are human simulations on computers, also known as virtual characters or avatars. Combining animation, sound technology and machine learning to create digitized humans that can virtually interact with people.
These virtual employees can perform a variety of tasks such as customer service, data entry, and content creation. They can also be used in video games, virtual worlds, simulations, or programmed to interact with people in many ways, including social media, digital marketing, and other forms of online communication.
China is using 2D and 3D virtual people to help tech companies grow. Some have even popped into the American internet space, especially as social media influencers.
How much does it cost to use Virtual People?
One of the reasons these virtual characters have been so popular over the years is that they cost so little to create. Prices range from $2,800 to $14,300 per year.
Prices are already down 80% since last year, so costs continue to fall. Some experts believe that these low costs will continue to increase the popularity of virtual people and that the industry could grow by 50% annually through 2025.
In August 2022, the city of Beijing announced plans to continue expanding the use of virtual people for enterprises, expecting the industry’s value to exceed $500 million by 2025.
Are virtual people only used by technology companies?
Tech companies were the first to adopt virtual people, but their presence in other industries is growing rapidly. China already has plans to bring more virtual talent to work in broadcasting and manufacturing.
He also currently works for various financial services, local tourism boards and national media. Many brands are looking for a virtual persona to represent them and help sell their content, especially in the face of the growing presence of cancellation culture and the years of negative press many celebrities have generated. Should Americans Worry About Their Jobs?
The rapid growth of virtual people is certainly affecting the rest of the world more than it does here in the United States.
Others are using virtual reality to regularly train frontline workers. These companies include JetBlue, Walmart and MGM Resorts. Many of them have found it helpful because their company deals with serving the public in some way.
America isn’t quite there yet when it comes to virtual people replacing real humans. Virtual workers could ultimately lead to unemployment for Americans as they choose to automate or outsource them to virtual workers.
Proponents argue that the growth of virtual workers could also lead to the creation of new human jobs, such as those related to developing and managing virtual workers.
While virtual employees can bring cost savings and increased efficiency to your company, it’s important to consider the potential negative effects. Aside from the apparent human unemployment, which has enormous potential, virtual workers can bring new concerns about privacy, misinformation, and accountability.
