Many people use social media to express their dissatisfaction with their jobs, but most do not receive an overwhelmingly positive response.
After a man shared on TikTok that he was 37 years old and much older than his peers and worked at a restaurant, viewers urged him not to view the fact negatively.
In this video, which has over 2 million views, contributor @blinks1020 uses text overlays to convey his age and the fact that he’s significantly older than many of his peers.
“You’re 37 and you’re still working in a restaurant, and all your co-workers are young enough to be your kids,” says text overlaid on the video.
The creator has shared multiple videos on his account highlighting the fact that he works in a restaurant, and says he earns more than his previous job despite having a college degree. I share generally positive things about my life and work.

With no other means of communication available, the Daily Dot reached out to @blinks1020 through comments on the video.
Viewers advised posters not to take this roundup of life as a negative sign.
“Education and careers have no age limit. Most people are ashamed of the negative effects of society,” wrote one commenter. “Get rid of them and continue to be a wonderful existence!”
“There is no shame in serving,” said another. “Depends on the restaurant, but it’s an honest job.”
“There was nothing wrong with those brothers,” said one viewer. “There is no time axis in life!! You are doing well.”
Others shared that he wasn’t the only one who felt out of place at this stage in life, they were in a similar situation.
“I’m 37 and I still work in my family’s bakery…and I love you. You still look so young for your age,” wrote one commenter. “We found the secret.”
Another user said, “I felt this.” “The 36 people here are still thinking about what they want to be when they grow up.”
“I know how you feel. I’ve been working at a grocery store for the last 29 years (really good job. No, I don’t make minimum wage lol),” TikToker shared . “My boss is a child (laughs).”
