At least 670 people are reported dead in Turkey and Syria after Monday’s magnitude 7.8 earthquake.

At least 386 people have been killed in Syria, including 239 mainly in the areas of Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Tartus, Syrian state television reported.

The “White Helmets” group, formally known as the Syrian Civil Defense, also reported at least 147 deaths in opposition-controlled areas of northwestern Syria.

Syrian state television said 648 people were injured in Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Tartus after the quake, with hundreds more injured. In opposition-controlled areas, he added, 340 more were reported injured.

At least 284 people have been killed and more than 2,323 injured in Turkey, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay previously said.
