Donald Trump will go on trial on March 25 in the New York criminal case where he is accused of falsifying business records related to hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels, a judge announced Tuesday. bottom.
The trial is set to begin in the midst of the presidential primary, less than eight months before the 2024 election. Trump is currently seeking the Republican nomination for the election.
Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Marchan announced the trial schedule as President Trump appeared in court via video connection for hearings in the case.
Marchan warned Trump that he could face sanctions if he violated an order restricting his ability to publicly comment on aspects of criminal cases.
A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign and a lawyer for Trump who worked on the case did not respond to requests for comment.
