Former President Donald Trump stopped by a construction site in New York City to thank people for their support during the trial.
The former president’s caravan stopped Thursday morning to meet hundreds of fans and union members seeking autographs and selfies.
Trump told reporters on the scene ahead of his appearance in Manhattan court and a key U.S. Supreme Court hearing on presidential immunity in Washington that he thanked Trump for the “amazing display of love.”
“There’s a big case today. This judge won’t let me go, but today there’s a big case in the Supreme Court about presidential immunity,” Trump told reporters.

“The president must have immunity,” he added. “Without immunity, we just have a ceremonial president.”
President Trump also used the opportunity to lash out at President Biden, accusing the president of intentionally allowing border violations.

“With one phone call, we could shut down the border,” the would-be Republican presidential nominee said. “Close the borders, Joe. Our country is going to hell.”
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted Trump on 34 counts of first-degree falsification of business records. Mr. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all 34 charges.
To secure a conviction, prosecutors must convince a jury that President Trump committed the crime of falsifying business records in “facilitation of another crime.”

New York State Attorney Joshua Steinglass said Tuesday that the other crime is a violation of a New York state law called “conspiracy to promote or prevent an election.”
Prosecutors aim to prove that this was done to cover up a conspiracy to unfairly promote candidacy.
