After Columbia University took steps consistent with President Donald Trump’s demands on anti-Semitism on campus, the Trump administration is now reportedly wanting to take additional steps to prevent Columbia from fading.

The administration’s source leaked to Wall Street Journal To create a court-enhanced compliance agreement to ensure that Columbia continues to coordinate its anti-Semitism executive directives and its policies and practices set out by Trump is pursuing a legal arrangement known as a consent judgment.

Columbia has taken steps to revise its policies and practices after facing the threat of losing $400 million in federal funds over its response to suspected anti-Semitism on campus. These included changes to protest policies, an expansion of the school’s Jewish Studies program, and a change in student disciplinary procedures, which were placed under the school’s Middle East Studies program.

To ensure these changes, the Trump administration is reportedly moving towards the arrival of a consent ruling. This could put Colombia in the court’s light empty if the judge finds the school is not complying with the administration’s directives.

Such violations could lead to further financial penalties for Colombia. The Trump administration has said Columbia is on the “right track” to restore its $400 million federal funds, but no official announcement has been made to show that it was.

Consent decisions must be voluntary, so Colombia must be an aspiring partner in the arrangement or can fight the issue in court.

“The university continues to actively interact with the federal government to restore its critical research funding,” a university spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The consent order is not an unusual tool for administrators to use to ensure that government priorities are in place. Under former President Joe Biden, the government has concluded a consent ruling arrangement with the police department to ensure that the president is implementing the criminal justice reforms he hopes to have. According to the Wall Street Journal, Biden pursued these legal arrangements with various universities, including Brown and Rutgers, on October 7, 2023, on anti-Semitism concerns since Hamas after the Israeli terrorist attacks.

Sources who leaked information about the consent ruling arrangement said the Trump administration is pursuing the issue as it questions its desire to track its compliance with the president’s federal orders on anti-Semitism despite public action to do so.

Fox News Digital reached the White House for comment but was unable to make it to be published.
