A few years ago I saw a powerful video.
A company interviewed potential employees for the position of “Director of Operations.” Job responsibilities included being on your feet at all times (even all night) and having excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
The company was looking for people with degrees in medicine, finance, and culinary arts. Shocked interviewees quickly lost interest in the job when they were told that the job offered no pay, breaks, or vacation. Work was open 24/7, 365 days a year. In fact, employees’ workload increases during holidays, so they are required to carry out their work in a cheerful atmosphere.

It turned out that the job information was false. Her job description was “mother”.

Those interviewed readily agreed that being a mother is the most rewarding job in the world. In a world where mothers are often taken for granted, this message is needed now more than ever.
People may think that mothers don’t have a real job, or that the job of a mother doesn’t require any special talents or skills. There should be no difference from the truth.
Mothers around the world have always worked tirelessly to make their children feel loved and valued, and to give them a better life than they had.
This Mother’s Day, I want to focus on the strength of three mothers who inspired me during my time in the pro-life movement.

Rose was diagnosed with endometriosis and was told she could no longer have children. While she and her husband were grieving this news, a young woman close to her named Elizabeth was also grieving for another reason. Elizabeth had just found out she was pregnant, but she was unmarried and she was terrified of raising the child alone.

By God’s grace, the two women met and developed a relationship filled with deep trust. Soon, Elizabeth entrusts Rose and her husband with the baby’s adoption. Their daughter, Maria Elizabeth, grew up in a loving home and also had a strong relationship with her birth mother.
Rose and her husband then adopted another little one named Joe. Maria is currently a 24-year-old algebra teacher for her 9th grade students in Georgia, and Joe, 19, is working as a plumber apprentice and personal her trainer.
Rose and Elizabeth each chose to become mothers in different but equally beautiful ways. Their lives show that choosing adoption over abortion can create more joy and love than anyone could have imagined.

When Beverly was 18 weeks pregnant with her husband’s ninth child, she received a phone call that changed their lives forever. Their child was diagnosed with ‘Trisomy 18’, a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis.
She said doctors told her the baby would be “expendable.” [her] Still, she was determined to love her baby girl no matter what. Her beautiful daughter Verity, now 7 years old, is her family’s “most precious blessing.”

In Beverly, we see the immense love and sacrifice that characterizes mothers all over the world, regardless of their child’s abilities.
Each mother is needed and loved by her child in her own beautiful way.
Francesca’s road to prison began at an early age. She was addicted to drugs and had been abused during her marriage. After losing custody of her four children, she became desperate and for the next 17 months she stole cars and drugs to make her living.
One day, after being robbed at gunpoint, she decides to quit this hopeless life. She turned herself in to the local jail, where she served 10 months.
Shortly after being released from prison, Francesca sat waiting for a prescription for psychiatric medication. She was shocked when her doctor instead gave her prenatal vitamins and sent her home. Her child’s father was her former drug dealer.

In desperation, Francesca turned to a local birthing clinic where she found love, support and hope. She stayed at her birthing center for two years, during which time she turned her life around. She is now a successful mother to her son Brandon and has found her calling as a mechanic shop manager.

Incredible things happen when we invest in women and love them regardless of their circumstances. Francesca’s story reveals that motherhood gives a woman the strength to overcome deep hurt and suffering and realize her dreams.
As these stories highlight, motherhood can look different for each woman, but there is one thing that stands out among all mothers. Women are amazing. When we encourage and empower them in motherhood, even in the most difficult of circumstances, they become the world’s greatest heroes. .

This Mother’s Day, let’s all celebrate the hard work of mothers. A mother’s work never stops, and too often her work goes unnoticed. Regardless of her situation as a mother, she is needed and loved by her child in a unique and beautiful way.
Mothers should be respected and celebrated today and every day because they are the heroes they are.
