One DoorDash delivery driver highlights the need to be aware of the real reasons behind single salt packet and cookie orders. Scammers who gained access to a DoorDash customer’s account are also plotting to exploit her DoorDash driver in order to steal her hard-won products. income.

In a video posted to TikTok, user Brittany (@brittanylovesstorm) says she fell victim to such a scheme.

“I got an order at McDonald’s and it was just one cookie,” she said in the video. “They thought that was so funny, so they packed up about 10 bags of those cookies and thought, oh, that’s so funny.”

At this point, she says, the customer called and told her that she was no longer at the desired address and needed to cancel the order.

“I thought, ‘Okay,’ and I hung up, and then I got another call, and it was from DoorDash Support, and they said, ‘Looks like you need to cancel your order. In order to get your money. I just have to do something,” she recalls.

“Doordash Support” was actually a scammer and eventually got her to share the code that was sent to her account, which she should do because it would give her access to the earnings she had kept. She says she now realizes that wasn’t the case.

“I gave them the code, which they shouldn’t have done. It said, ‘Never share this code with anyone.'” The person immediately hung up. ” says Brittany. “I’ve been locked out of my DoorDash account. It’s a scam. People like this order the cheapest thing on the menu in order to access the DoorDash driver account and receive the money associated with that account. To do.”

However, she says they were unable to receive her funds because her earnings were stored in a card account rather than in the app.

“Fortunately, I have a DoorDash card and my money goes directly there, so they couldn’t take all my money, but that’s why people do things like this. “I do,” she says. “Actually, they’re not just ordering salt. I’ve seen a lot of different versions of this, but they’re ordering sweet and sour packs and whatever. It’s kind of weird that these fast food restaurants don’t do that. Some viewers strongly advised against sharing codes or information with unknown callers or customers due to the possibility of fraud.

Others shared that they had actually placed orders similar to the one described by the poster, either intentionally or accidentally, and that they were not scamming anyone.

“I accidentally ordered only cheese on DoorDash,” a viewer wrote. “I tried to order a cheeseburger with just cheese and no meat or bun. It was very sad.”

Another commenter wrote, “Seeing this reminds me of when I ordered 1 cookie to see if my account was banned. Now that I’m at the Dash rep… I feel bad that you thought I was going to do this.”

“Okay, sir, I ordered just the sauce once and forgot the sauce and my car battery died so I couldn’t get it,” one commenter wrote.
