Blue Lagoon Retreat is truly amazing.
That’s why I always make sure to stay at the Blue Lagoon when I visit Iceland.
It’s what we did on our first trip and we have such fond memories that it’s actually become something of a tradition now as we make sure to do it on every trip to Iceland. I am.
I think it’s very convenient as it’s close to the airport.
Our relaxing previous day turned out to be not so relaxing, but we were able to see puffins this close (and for free, without a tour) and also see Dirhorai (finally!) , downtime at the Blue Lagoon retreat was something we were looking forward to. We even arrived 3 hours before check-in started.
Here I will introduce the room and its overall appearance.
The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, but Iceland and many Nordic countries are famous for their pared-back, minimalist style.
Champagne is available in the room and everything in the minibar is included in the price of your stay, including alcoholic beverages.
And everything is refilled/replaced with turndown service in the evening.
For this trip, I was actually originally trying to book the Silica Hotel in the Blue Lagoon, but as I mentioned in this post, hotel reservations in Iceland in the summer are very busy.
Many hotels were sold out, including the Silica Hotel in the Blue Lagoon.
This allowed us to book the Blue Lagoon Retreat and we ended up staying there.
However, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon is a step up when compared to Silica Hotel at Blue Lagoon.
There are actually several notches.
First, you are welcomed with champagne while the check-in staff flies around you to make sure you have everything you need.
The main spa is here and has things like skin cleansing and rejuvenating treatments called The Rituals. To be honest, I rolled my eyes at first.
I guess I was just being skeptical. Because I have been to so many spas. People are trying to sell you the idea that the spa offers amazing treatments that are unique to it, but in reality, it’s no different from any other spa, or even feels like you’ve been to a spa. . First up is the spa.
Still, here we are, we decided we had to give it a try.
By the way, it’s worth it.
After the treatment, and even days later, my skin felt so amazing that I forgot I had the treatment and wondered why my skin looked and felt so good. Memories of the treatment I received suddenly come back to me.
I can’t recommend it enough.
Photography is prohibited inside the spa, so I can’t show you much.
There is also a private Blue Lagoon area that can only be visited by guests of The Retreat at Blue Lagoon (which you can also visit if you are paying to go to the spa). I realize now that taking photos is prohibited there, but we did. We were there.
To be fair, it was pretty slow and there wasn’t anyone around, so it didn’t make much of a difference.
But it was so nice to have no one around. Because we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Afternoon tea was also offered as part of our stay here, and apart from that and a visit to the restaurant for dinner, we spent almost the whole day just relaxing in the somewhat warm waters of the Blue Lagoon retreat. .
It was wonderful.
It was also the perfect rest stop before attempting another hike to a nearby erupting volcano.
