The couple announced their intention to divorce in July last year after seven years of marriage.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement. Page 6. “As two people who love and care for each other, we respectfully ask that you respect our privacy as we enter this new phase in our lives.”
When it comes to public, on-the-record statements regarding the divorce, we haven’t heard much from either of them regarding their feelings about the divorce.
Back in November, Sophia mentioned She said it’s been a “difficult year” about the fact that her divorce is in the works, but other than that, she’s been mostly silent.
Now, in an interview CBS Sunday MorningSophia finally offered some perspective on what it felt like to navigate such a difficult time in the public eye.

“You’re out there and people know that’s part of being a celebrity,” says Sophia on how she’s prepared to cope when news of her divorce gets out to the public. I explained this while talking about dolphins.
“I knew it would happen. You can’t hide things like that.”
Sofia also explained how she “got over” public speculation. “It wasn’t too bad,” she revealed.
“I have to say the press was very polite and very kind. And I thought they would come up with something more, and you know how it usually is. ”
“I was surprised and they just said what it was and that was it.”
