Regional theme park giants Six Flags and Cedar Fair are expected to complete their merger on Monday.

“Our entire team is eager to celebrate this important milestone and embark on the next chapter of our journey to provide millions of guests across North America with unparalleled family entertainment filled with fun, thrills and lifelong memories,” Six Flags president and CEO Selim Basoor said in a June 26 press release.

The proposed merger, expected to be finalized on Monday, would create one of North America’s largest theme park operations. Cedar Fair and Six Flags currently operate dozens of theme parks, water parks and resorts across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Yes, the combined company will operate as Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.

What does the Six Flags-Cedar Fair merger mean for guests?

After the merger, the company will be valued at an estimated $8 billion.

“Our increased financial flexibility will enable us to invest in new rides and attractions, food and beverage options and cutting-edge consumer technology, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation to make each visit to our parks more exciting and memorable than the last,” Cedar Fair president and CEO Richard Zimmerman said in the release.

Last week, Six Flags announced its largest investment in Fright Fest to date.

Who will run the company?

Zimmerman will serve as president and CEO of the combined company, while Basor will become chairman of the board of directors, according to a news release last week.

Currently, there are 11 states with Six Flags parks and resorts. Six Flags also has parks in Montreal and Mexico City.

Where is Cedar Fair located?

There are currently nine provinces with Cedar Fair Parks, including one in the Toronto area.
