A waitstaff working at a restaurant in Fort Lauderdale Beach quickly went viral after posting a video about how she earned about $450 worth of tips in one night.
TikToker Genevieve (@genny_sleboda) posted a short clip showing why so many people claim that service is addictive. The video has over 236,000 views and 18,000 likes as of Friday.

“This is what I make in one night as a waitress,” Genevieve says in the video. “There were about eight tables, but my section wasn’t occupied. It was a slow Sunday night.”
The camera then zooms in on her end-of-the-night report. “It totaled about $13,000 in food and about $650 in drinks,” she explained while filling out her report. She said, “On the tip of her credit card she earned $451.35.”
“That’s not the only thing I should keep,” she added, before beginning to pass information on to other employees, including food runners, clerks, bar clerks and bartenders. “The total tip was $111.”
“So my credit card tip totaled $340.35,” continues Genevieve. He earned some cash. I made $68 that night. “
Genevieve concludes the video by explaining the tips she ended up earning and the average amount per hour. “Total is $408. So I earned $40 an hour.”
Many viewers were shocked by her final take home amount.
“It’s a slow night! A slow night makes $60 for me,” one person commented.
“I mean, if I’m going home with more than $300 in rent, I don’t mind paying $100. I’m lucky to have $60 in cash on a busy night,” another man said. Ta.
“Beverages include all drinks, right? Not just alcohol? Either way, it’s still great,” added the third person.
Additionally, some servers commented on how difficult it is to change jobs when the salary is so high.
One commenter said, “It’s very hard to go back to anything else when it comes to being paid as a server.”
“Sometimes I want to quit my degree in clerical work and go back to service because the money is so good,” agreed the former waiter.
Some were impressed with Genevieve’s take home, but argued that the size of her tip-out was too high for them, saying, “It’s a pretty good amount[especially at this time of year]but tip-out is for me. No,” he claimed.
Getting a few hundred bucks after your shift might feel good, but there’s a lot of money on the waiting table. Disadvantage. One of the biggest problems is being paid below the minimum wage. Some supplement their salaries by changing roles each time they have a side job, but servers average about $3 an hour.
