President-elect Donald Trump’s historic victory was made possible by the broadest coalition of voters the Republican Party has seen in modern times. On Election Day, our big tents spread from coast to coast, bringing patriotic Americans from all walks of life. Many initially turned their backs on Democrats who increasingly ignored the concerns of hard-working Americans. But President Trump’s leadership and his policies for American success resulted in a deal.
As Congress returns to Washington, we must prepare the Senate to advance its agenda legislatively and allow the president-elect to finalize his appointees and begin work in earnest as soon as possible. The Senate Republican Majority will work with President Trump to confirm President Trump’s nominees on the Senate calendar and ensure that our shared agenda passes as quickly and efficiently as possible.

We have a mission to govern. With President Trump leading the race, Republicans performed better in 48 states than they did in 2020. Profit margins improved in three out of four U.S. counties, and support from nearly every demographic group grew. President Trump has more support from Hispanics than any previous Republican president, and young voters, many of whom are up for election in their lifetimes, were crucial to his victory. As my colleague Flordia state senator Marco Rubio puts it, the party is now “a multiracial, multiracial coalition of hardworking Americans who love their country.” It’s a new day for the Republican Party. That’s very good.

We cannot take this coalition for granted. If we fail to achieve President Trump’s priorities, we will lose their support. They trusted us and voted for us. Now you have to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

At the top of the list is cleaning up the mess left by the Biden-Harris-Schumer policies, which are clearly rejected by the American people. A Republican Congress must ensure that President Trump has the tools and support he needs to enforce border security laws and eliminate the violent criminals wreaking havoc in states. The Biden-Harris administration created a border crisis. I will finish it.
Second, to make America prosper again, we must take a knife to the regulatory machinery that is choking the economy, including the 1,000 Biden-Harris regulations that have already cost Americans nearly $2 trillion. No. Streamlining the bureaucracy is long overdue.

It is not enough to undo the damage done by Biden, Harris, and Schumer Democrats. Americans have endured devastating price increases over the past four years. They’ve asked us to boost growth and improve take-home pay, starting by blocking looming tax increases. They directed us to restore order to an unstable world by force, with a military so powerful and mission-focused that our enemies would never dare challenge us. And they gave us the green light to restore America’s energy dominance.

We have an ambitious plan, and achieving it will require all of us, and every single Republican, to work with President Trump’s leadership. If we fail to carry out our mandate successfully, we risk losing the coalition that brought us to power with a landslide victory over Republicans.

Differences of opinion may arise along the way. When they occur, we must continue to listen to each other and strive to serve those who gave us this mission. Democrats will exclude or eliminate anyone who challenges liberal orthodoxy. This Republican Party listens to its voters and celebrates the marketplace of ideas.
Last week’s red wave could propel this country to new heights if we listen to the voters who made it possible.
