Selena Gomez received the Entertainment Equity Award at The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Gala, presented by Lifetime magazine.
In an interview with Extra’s Terry Seymour, Selena said that she is looking forward to spending time with her family and boyfriend Benny Blanco over the holidays.
She said, “I’m going to celebrate with my family and my boyfriend. We’re just going to eat our vegetables and do nothing.”
As for who will do the cooking between Selena and Benny, she revealed, “He will do it.”
Referring to her show “Selena + Chef,” she quipped: “I’ve fooled people into thinking I can cook. I can cook certain things well, but not everything.”
Selena is looking forward to spending time with her younger sister Gracie, saying, “She’s kind of become my best friend. She’s 12 years old.”
Gomez has been busy promoting her movie “Emilia Perez” and is making headlines ahead of awards season.
She said: “The whole thing was surreal in the best sense of the word. I’m lucky to have a job and a great family and support system. I want to do things that move people, captivate people, challenge people. I wanted to create one, and this was one of those dream jobs.”
Gomez has long been a voice for the underrepresented. Reflecting on how much expressing and being an advocate for others has always meant to her, she said: When I was little, I remember thinking, “Oh, I should be blonde and have blue eyes.” It was always in the back of my mind, but I realized that I had the ability to use my platform for people who needed a voice. It’s all been really rewarding and I’m proud to be Gomez and I’m proud to be myself. ”
