French footballer Karim Benzema recently made a pilgrimage to Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia, French footballer Karim Benzema has joined Saudi Pro League team Al Itihad in a shock move.

On Monday 7 August 2023, Saudi Pro League team Al Ittihad captain and Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema shared a video of him making a pilgrimage.

The devout Muslim footballer has had a great new season and is enjoying his time in Saudi Arabia.

The star took to microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a short video of his pilgrimage to Makkah. “Mashara,” the former Real Madrid footballer said in the video, “the best of the best”.

“Alhamdulillah,” added the star, who was seen wearing a white robe, also known as ihram. The video shows Karim Benzema performing the tawaf around the Kaaba.

On the other hand, according to Carriage TimesIt’s not the first time the French star has performed the sacred Umrah. He visited Saudi Arabia and completed Umrah in 2016.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane, a newly signed Al Nasr footballer from the Saudi Pro League club, also made a pilgrimage. The Senegalese footballer reportedly performed an umrah on Thursday 3 August 2023, just hours after making his debut for the Saudi club.

But Sadio Mane wasn’t the only one embarking on this journey. He was joined by Muslim teammates, including former RC Lens captain Seco Fofana.

A video of a soccer player performing an umrah has gone viral on the Internet.

Besides Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, Saudi football clubs have signed major players such as Jordan Henderson, Marcelo Brozovic, N’Golo Kante, Alex Telles, Seco Fofana and Riyad Mahrez.
