Ryan Blaney won the first stage of the YellaWood 500, hot but largely unscathed.

On Lap 60 of the 186-lap race, as Blaney was leading the pack heading into the tri-oval, Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain collided in Turn 4, sending Chastain into the wall and crashing thousands of feet. An early warning was issued. Trackhouse Racing was forced to retire Chastain’s No. 1 Chevrolet, dealing a major blow to Chastain’s playoff hopes as he entered the weekend in sixth place, 10 points above the cut line.

Blaney, on the other hand, entered the weekend in 11th place, 11 points off the cut line, gaining stage points and contributing significantly to the playoff standings.

YellaWood 500 Top Drivers and Best Bets

Due to the particularly dangerous nature of Talladega, with the “Big One” lurking around every corner, no driver enters the weekend with odds better than 10-1. Of the 10 drivers most likely to participate, only Chase Elliott is not in the playoffs. With six wins at Talladega, Brad Keselowski has the most wins of any athlete in the field, with his last victory coming in the spring of 2021.

best odds to win
• Denny Hamlin +1000
• Brad Keselowski +1000
• Ryan Blaney +1200
• Joey Logano +1200

Yahoo Sports’ Nick Blomberg wrote about the betting outlook earlier this week, saying that given the unpredictable nature of this race, spread your money out rather than betting on one or two favorites. It is recommended that In the mid-tier, I like Christopher Bell (+2200) and Tyler Reddick (+2500). This is likely at very long odds due to the fact that he is the only driver in the playoffs and Toyota has not won at Talladega for a next generation car.
