It was a diagnosis that shocked Rosie O’Donnell and changed her to her parent. Clay, the youngest of her five children, the joy of life was autism.
Mona Kosar Abdi from “Extra” spoke with Rosie. Rosie discussed how the service dog bear changed everything about the clay.
She said, “I didn’t know as a mother of autistic child diagnosed at age 2. I didn’t know they had a service dog.”
Special dogs are trained by prisoners across the country. “I never heard of it until I became friends with Lyle Menendez,” Rosie said.
He reached out to her “30 years ago,” but Rosie and Lyle “became friends three years ago.”
Rosie shared that she “gets a service dog.”
Lyle and his brother Eric Menendez are serving life sentences without parole for the 1989 murder of his parents. Thanks to Ryan Murphy’s show “Monster: The Story of Lyle and Eric Menendez” and Netflix’s “The Menendez Brothers,” they are now fighting for responsiveness after a renewed interest in their case.
Rosie incorporates what was once a very personal and personal journey, and the executive has produced a new documentary, “Unleashing Hope: The Power of Power of Power of Autism.”
The inspiring documentary currently streaming on Hulu spotlights how these incredible service animals can play a major transformational role in the lives of young people with autism, like 12 years old.
Rosie recalled.[They] I was very disconnected from everyone. [They] I didn’t want to leave the house, so it was free. [them] And by myself, we were both in pain and we didn’t know what to do. ”
O’Donnell also opened up her response to an autism diagnosis and said, “When the doctor said, ‘No, they have autism,’ I felt like I was kicked in the stomach. I had to sit. Literally, I was like, “No, are you sure?” and they were like, “Yes.” I’ve been tested again, so when your child is diagnosed with autism, you don’t get the book and autism is a huge spectrum that you can’t speak from Albert Einstein. ”
Rosie now lives with his Irish family and says, “When Donald Trump ran again, I had a plan with the therapist. I knew if he won, I had to leave.
