ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Dozens of new and used vehicles gathered outside Don Carter on May 25 for the 7th annual Miracle Mile Car Show, which aims to raise money for local businesses.

The Rockford Police Color Guard kicked off the celebration, followed by a rescue demonstration by the Rockford Fire Department that wowed the crowd. Paula Olson, executive director of Miracle Mile, said it’s all about supporting local businesses.

“The money we raise today will go towards supporting the local independent businesses that are working hard along State Street to stay open,” Olson said.

The event also featured a Vietnam War memorial and a number of classic hot rods, like Mike Fuller’s 1990s Mustang-engined Ford F1 Rat.

“I want to see more of these hot rods out there for people to enjoy, that’s the goal,” Fuller said. “I want to keep these guys around for people to enjoy.”

Stacey Glover and Johnny Rice said they loved getting out to perform Glover’s 1978 classic.

“she [has] You’ve probably seen this car before since you were in it…we came here for memories. [of] “Her nephew, Austin,” Rice said.
