Ozmo is no ordinary window washer. This sophisticated system consists of two Kuka robotic arms mounted on a cleaning platform suspended from the building’s roof. Each arm is equipped with a brush head and water supply to tackle even the toughest stains.

But the real magic of Ozmo lies in its brain: the robot uses force sensors to measure the fragility of each window pane and apply just the right amount of pressure for a perfect clean. LiDAR sensors and AI algorithms help Ozmo navigate a vertical world, maintaining stability even when the wind picks up.

Humans and robots working together

Though Ozmo represents a breakthrough in automation, it’s not yet ready to operate on its own. For now, a human operator operates the system from the roof of a building. This collaboration of human expertise and robotic precision points to a future where dangerous work becomes safer and more efficient. In fact, Skyline Robotics, the company that develops Ozmo, says the robot cleans windows three times faster than a traditional human window cleaner.

Important points about the cart

Ozmo’s arrival in New York City is about more than just clean windows. It represents a change in how cities approach maintenance and worker safety. As cities get taller and more complex, innovations like Ozmo will play a key role in keeping them sparkling and functional. While some may worry about job losses, the reality is more nuanced. Ozmo is creating new roles for tech-savvy operators and maintenance specialists — not replacing humans, but elevating them into safer, more skilled positions.
