Ryomen Sukuna is arguably one of the best manga villains of all time. Every scene this villain appears in evokes a range of emotions, and not just because of his godlike powers or evil schemes. While these strong traits certainly put him in an advantageous position, Sukuna was a fantastic villain and a sheer force of evil. Every time he showed up, we knew something crazy was going to happen.

Some of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most intense and coolest fight scenes are registered under his name. Fans knew that if he took to the battlefield, there would be at least one dead body left behind. Sukuna was one of those villains who would stop at nothing to unleash as much destruction and misery as possible. Sadism is not even the word to describe him, and it can’t be good for manga readers to witness such a great enemy meet a tragic end in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268.

It was a shame to see him shrink just like we saw him (like a weird ball of slime) as Yuji looked down at him while feeling sorry for the Curse King and giving him a second chance to take over the Curse King’s body. The Wild Rose Resonance and Yuji’s ultimate black flash ripped Sukuna from Megumi’s body as the bad guy desperately tried to stay attached to his flesh and failed miserably.

Manga fans were already disappointed when author Akutami Gege announced that Jujutsu Kaisen would end after five chapters. Now, the main villain is finally dead, but the way he died was hard for many to accept. One fan wrote to X, “To be honest, chapter 268 was meant to be a cathartic and joyful chapter, but the pacing was so bad that I didn’t feel any emotion at all, especially at the end of Sukuna.”

“Is this what’s going to happen to Sukuna? Oh my god no… Gege gave him the worst,” one shocked user speculated. Another added, “So I read JJK268 and Gege, what have you done? Sukuna could have been one of the best villains if they actually knew how to write, instead he’ll be remembered for what he was written in that chapter. And Hikari… I have no words, just disappointing.”

Social media has been flooded with tributes to RIP. While some seem to have accepted the villain’s end, many have not. Which side are you on?
