Virginia State Police believe the child pornography suspect may have posed as a personal cheerleading coach to lure the girls.
Investigators arrested 38-year-old Jason Fragar at Orlando International Airport in February as he was attempting to leave the country, police said. As a result of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Virginia State Police, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Hula Girl has been charged with 10 felony charges related to child pornography.
According to the indictment, the suspect uploaded multiple images of what appeared to be child pornography to the messaging app Kik. The suspect also described himself as a pedophile, said he had sexually assaulted children and said he wanted to do it again.
Police said the suspect operated the Crimson All-Star Cheerleading Club out of an office in Reston Town Center and also operated under an alias.
“To our knowledge, he created business cards under the false name ‘Jason Mariani’ and also wrote the words ‘USA Cheer’ on them,” said Virginia State Police Special Agent Mike Block.
Records show the company was registered in Virginia, but is now defunct and does not have an office in Reston Town Center.
Police are investigating whether the business was once legal or just a ploy to lure young girls.
“He would bring young girls into his Reston office and have them coach cheerleading, model and take measurements,” Block said.
Fragare has not been charged in connection with the cheerleading business, but police say anyone who meets him under the pseudonym of a cheer coach should contact police.
“Talk to your kids,” Block said. “If you have had any interaction with this person, whether it’s ‘Jason Fragare’ or ‘Jason Mariani,’ please come forward.”
Fragar had residences in Florida and Leesburg. The suspect was transported to Loudoun County and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
