Philadelphia (WPVI) — Eagles fans got up early Sunday morning to tailgate ahead of the game. Some fans were celebrating more than just the best team in football.

“The first time I cried was during the 1980 Super Bowl when the Raiders beat us,” said Dan McCurry, an Eagles fan since age six.

This game became one of his favorites before the team hit the field. A whole family of Vietnam veterans surprised him on his 70th birthday.

“I went to help the bus driver unload the truck off the highway and everyone was on board. I got on there and everyone was on board,” he said.

Dan wasn’t the only one among the thousands of Eagles fans to celebrate the big day at the tailgate.

“I turned 30 today. It’s a good day. My friends and family are having a great time here,” said Rob Dadrea of ​​Northeast Philadelphia. He boarded a bus to the stadium with 75 of his closest friends and family, bringing lots of games and lots of good food.

“We’ve smoked jerk chicken, smoked pulled pork here, and baked mac and cheese,” he said.

“We had breakfast sandwiches, bacon eggs and cheese, pork rolls eggs and cheese. rice field.

She and her friends started the day off right. Eagles fans at large wanted to show Tennessee why Philadelphia is the premier football city.

“It’s a city like no other,” said Sherry Holt of Lawrenceville, New Jersey. “Everybody has a great time when they come to Philadelphia.”

“I think this is the best team I’ve seen in a long time,” he said.

Dan’s actual birthday isn’t until January. Now that the party is over, he wants his one present. Eagles trip to the Super Bowl.
