The New England Patriots are listening and taking calls from teams targeting the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, league officials said.

Patriots scouting director Elliott Wolf is in the running, but New England president Jonathan Kraft is heavily involved in decision-making, according to sources.

Wolf, who was tapped by owner Robert Kraft to have final say in the Patriots’ front office last week, has been fairly candid about the team’s interest in trading him back.

“We are open for business,” Wolf said Thursday.

However, manager Robert Kraft is keen for the team to take a quarterback out of the draft, which could complicate the discussion. Kraft made that clear at a league meeting last month. So even if the Patriots were to trade away the No. 3 spot, they could still pursue a quarterback — possibly even trying to trade for Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.

But it’s this factor that makes the Pats feel comfortable sticking with No. 3 and selecting a quarterback. A trade back to the Pats would likely require a big offer, a “bag” as coach Jerod Mayo said a few weeks ago.

New England will enter its first draft without longtime head coach Bill Belichick, who is gone after 24 seasons. The Patriots enter this draft with several needs at quarterback after a 4-13 season. New England traded former starter Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year and enters this week with Jacoby Brissett and Bailey Zappe at the top of the depth.
