Pace will officially launch its second express bus line, Pulse, this weekend, giving passengers more travel options between Evanston and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

According to a press release, the Dempster Line will serve mainly in Dempster as it passes through the Northern Suburbs.

The new pulse line will give travelers access to CTA’s Blue, Yellow and Purple lines, as well as Metra’s Union Pacific North, Northwest and North Central Service Corridors.

When fully charged, the pulse works every 15 minutes for most of the day. During the preview, buses will arrive every 10-20 minutes from 6am Sunday to 1am Monday.

Previously, the Pulse Milwaukee Line opened in 2019 to help travelers move between Niles and Chicago.

The pulse line will feature “compact stations and vertical markers,” and will also provide heated shelters and real-time bus tracking information, officials said. Officials say the buses will have an easily recognizable purple design.

Evanston, Skokie, Morton Grove, Niles, Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Rosemont will all be serviced by the line.

August 13th will be the first day Pulse service will be available only on Sundays. Full-scale service is scheduled to start this fall.

The buses are equipped with free Wi-Fi, digital displays and up to 43 seats. All are ADA compliant and mount bike racks in the front and rear passenger doors and in the front.

Travelers can access the Yellow Line at Dempster-Skoky Station and the Purple Line at the Davis CTA/Metra stop in Evanston.

holstead and 95th Street will also acquire Pulse Routes in the future, but officials are seeking funding for those projects.
