What’s in Each Box
No matter which plan you choose, you will be rewarded, literally. Each box contains 10 Munchies exclusive to Japan. We cover popular brands such as Pocky, Hi-Chew, Pretz, and Jagabee. The list goes on. Each box features an amazing mix of traditional flavors such as matcha, wasabi, Japanese KitKat, chewy candies, sour candies, character snacks and DIY candy kits.
Charles couldn’t resist Mentos DUO Muscat soda candies. Charles polished it up before I took the picture, so I used some shady Photoshop magic to show it off. These Mentos are one of his new favorite snacks.
I love spicy food, so I immediately bought Red and Green Peppercorn Snacks from Super Spicy Mania. They definitely delivered the spicy part! Raise the spiciness level with the spiciest chips in your Doritos roulette bag.
The Japanese snacks here are definitely unlike anything you’ve seen in North America. The first one I tried was a tea flavored chocolate from LOOK Japanese Tea House. Small squares of milk chocolate with hojicha and genmaicha flavors added. The family was divided on this. My son and I liked it, but Charles and his daughter weren’t so convinced.
My son and daughter split the coveted KitKat matcha latte chocolate bar and reported that every part was as good as expected.
There are many other interesting flavors such as “Umaibo Yakitori Corn Stick Snack”. This is a popular candy. A crunchy corn snack that tastes like grilled chicken. A popular street food snack consisting of yakitori topped with a sweet soy sauce.
Each box includes a cute and helpful information booklet. The booklet has a description of each snack you receive, along with pictures to help identify it. It also touches a bit on the theme of the box. Our theme was time travel treats with both traditional and contemporary snacks.
This booklet was very helpful to us as most of the snacks are written in Japanese and none of us can read Japanese. Even with a photo translation app, I was able to learn a little more about sweets just by looking at the photos in the booklet.
Are Japan Candy boxes suitable for vegans and gluten-free?
Now, if you’re on a vegan or gluten-free diet, be aware that Japanese manufacturers typically don’t explicitly state whether their snacks meet that requirement. Some of the larger snacks have ingredients listed on the label (in Japanese, of course), so you can pull out your translator and check for yourself.
Can I order just one box?
How about enjoying candy just once? no problem! If you choose the 1-month plan and cancel after the first box ships but before your renewal date, you will be charged for the next month.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Please note that 6-month and 12-month plans cannot be canceled or refunded after the first box has been shipped. If you need to cancel, please log into your account. Be sure to do this before the first box of subscription renewals is shipped.
