One of them, journalist-turned-information commissioner Uday Mahlkar, sent a letter to Nolan on Twitter. Mahkar of the Save Culture Save India Foundation sent a letter on behalf of the organization.
Sorry Christopher Nolan… Karma was already biting him when Barbie beat Oppenheimer at the box office!!……

“I just noticed that the movie ‘Oppenheimer’ contains a scene attacking Hinduism,” Makhkar writes.
I am calling for a boycott of the movie Oppenheimer. I have just learned that there is a very aggressive scene involved in the Bhagavad Gita. I won’t repeat it here, but this has some definite content. Never trust Hollywood or the West to portray Hinduism positively and accurately.

“The Bhagwad Gita is one of the most revered sacred texts of Hinduism.
Oppenheimer is boring and what is that scene where he reads the Bhagwat Gita? It’s not over! person you dislike. 🖕

“I do not know the motives and logic behind this unnecessary scene on the life of a scientist. However, this appears to be a direct attack on the religious beliefs of one billion tolerant Hindus, rather tantamount to waging war on the Hindu community and part of a larger conspiracy by anti-Hindu forces,” he added.
Censor Board Cuts Offense in Oppenheimer Film, But Allows Lead Actor to Have Sex While Reading ‘Bhagavad Gita’
Remember, the BJP censorship board has no problem with blasphemy against Hinduism, but Adipurush also tolerated such nonsense. pic.twitter.com/5dFWSRhX63

No matter what anyone says, I didn’t like Oppenheimer’s scene with the Bhagwat Gita. That’s rude. #oppenheimer

The movie “Oppenheimer” is definitely worth watching, but there is a scene where the main character reads the Bhagwat Gita in a scene with A*x.
It’s really disturbing…Gita is the holy book of our country…I really don’t understand how the censorship board can approve this kind of scene in India— Sneha (@me_nehank) July 23, 2023
Makhkar also points out that Hollywood never portrays “the Koran and Islam… in a way that might undermine the values of ordinary Muslims, even if they make something based on Islamist terrorism,” and asks why the same sensibility and “politeness” can’t be applied to Hindus.
J. Robert Oppenheimer is credited with being the father of the atomic bomb. When he witnessed the first nuclear explosion in the desert of New Mexico, USA on July 16, 1945, he was, by his own admission, immediately reminded of a passage from his Gita, Bhagavad: “Now I am death…”. pic.twitter.com/UQgc4106n8

He added that the scene should be removed from Oppenheimer “across the globe” or else “it would be seen as a deliberate attack on Indian civilization.”
Also, this is not the first time that the Bhagavad Gita has been quoted in a Western film. Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut” had an orgy scene, and the line included the following lines: “For the protection of the good, the destruction of the evil, and the firm establishment of Dharma, I was born, incarnated on earth, and aged.”
