Malcolm LaVergne, the attorney representing O.J. Simpson’s estate, is recanting recent statements about murdered Ron Goldman’s family.
Extra’s Billy Bush spoke with Laverne, who told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he would do everything in his power to make sure the Goldmans got “zero, nothing” from Simpson’s fortune.
He told Billy: That was a pretty harsh comment. ”
Mr. LaVergne said he sympathized with the Goldman family. “Indeed…and have been for years…they lost a son.”
When Billy asks if the Goldmans lost their son at the hands of Simpson, Malcolm replies, “That’s a debate that’s been going on for 30 years.”
“When it came to L.A., Mr. Simpson never talked about it,” he said.
Orensal Simpson’s last will and will, just filed on Friday, was updated in January and leaves everything in his trust, and includes the names of his four children.
As for what the children think of Simpson, Lavergne stressed, “His four remaining children are very private and I don’t know what they said, what they did, what happened to them.” If they want to come out and tell it, I think that’s their story. ”
Simpson reportedly owes the Goldman family $114 million, and Lavergne thinks that may actually be the case. more.
He claimed: “First of all, I don’t think the numbers you’re talking about are accurate. I think Mr. Goldman and his lawyers probably actually messed up the accounting and actually underestimated the amount owed. . Now that I’m the enforcer, I think they are. [owed] It’s about $201 million. ”
Lavergne doesn’t know how much money Simpson had at the time of his death. He elaborated as follows: “I was cleaning his house. This is obviously in the early stages. Mr. Simpson passed away on Wednesday night. I didn’t even know I was the executor until Thursday evening. We have to find his bank account and the numbers will be tallied, but that could take months, if not years.”
He added: “Frankly, we’re still in the dark, but we remain hopeful.”
Lavergne also opened up about OJ’s final days, saying, “His family was by his side and a lot of friends came to see him. He was a father. He was a grandfather. I was very happy and satisfied with my life. We knew the end was near.”
He elaborated, “For the past few days, he’s had very little energy…If someone walked into the room he saw, people would give him a raise…He didn’t want you and me to communicate. He wasn’t able to communicate as much as he should…just resting and watching TV and watching his favorite shows…that’s what the last few days were like.”
