A new Washington Post poll shows former President Trump leading with 50% of likely voters in North Carolina, compared to Vice President Harris with 48%.

Trump’s narrow lead is within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points, although the former president won the state by a similarly narrow 1.3 percentage point margin in 2020. The poll contacted 1,001 registered voters randomly selected from a statewide database.
North Carolina has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since former President Barack Obama won in 2008, but the Democratic National Committee believes the state’s Republican majority is fragile and could flip.
Most of the research was conducted before Helen had a full impact on the state, so it doesn’t reflect the changes the storm could cause in public opinion.
