Considering the cost of titanium, this makes sense. It’s three to four times stronger than the stainless steel used in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, so less material is needed to create a chassis that’s equally strong, if not stronger. , some might argue that the price will fall.
The problem with that argument is that the current price of titanium is $35-50 per kilogram, compared to $1-1.50 per kilogram for stainless steel. That’s a big difference, and it’s out of reach on the standard iPhone.
So my guess is whether Apple will complicate its supply chain with three different chassis materials (aluminum on the standard model, stainless steel on the iPhone 15 Pro, and titanium on the iPhone 15 Ultra) or stick with two. It becomes a problem. Downgrading the iPhone 15 Pro is likely not an option, so this could mean upgrading the standard model to stainless steel.

First, the insider answered my question about Apple’s choice of chassis material. Interestingly, the answer is now that Apple plans to use all three. Aluminum is reserved for the two standard iPhone 15 models, stainless steel for the iPhone 15 Pro, and titanium for the Ultra.
LeaksApplePro adds a caveat, “That’s what we know so far.” That’s fair considering how fast the iPhone 15 series’ development cycle is, but it’s interesting to see the company add this complexity to its supply chain.
Secondly, LeaksApplePro says that the repeatedly leaked dual front camera is likely exclusive to the iPhone 15 Ultra.
We think this is more likely due to physical size than simply from a cost standpoint. Adding a second camera leaves little room for other icons. Many of the icons (Time, Cellular/WiFi Signal, Notifications, etc.) are considered essential by the user.
A second camera is considered a luxury by comparison. By contrast, the 6.5-inch iPhone 15 Ultra can house a camera and hold the same number of icons as the iPhone 15 Pro. I don’t know yet if I will.
