Canadian authorities have announced a recall of certain Nestlé branded infant formulas.

Infant formula has been recalled by the company due to possible contamination with Cronobacter, which can cause serious infections and often death, especially among young babies.

The recalled product was sold nationwide in Canada. At the time the recall was posted today, there were no confirmed product-related illnesses.

With the expiration date extending through July 2024, there are concerns that consumers may already have the product at home and are storing it for future use.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has launched a food safety investigation that may lead to recalls of other products or an expansion of the current recall. The agency monitors recalls to ensure that all relevant infant formulas are removed from commerce.

Anyone who purchased a recalled prescription must either destroy it or return it to where it was purchased.

A formula can be identified by the following information:

brand product size UPC code
Nestlé Good Start Sousse (infant formula) 942g 0 55000 38369 1 Batch Number: 301757651Z (EXP 2024 JL 18), 301757652Z (EXP 2024 JL 18), 301857651Z (EXP 2024 JL 19)
