Over the past year, companies on this list have balanced cost-cutting measures with bold investments in technology, AI, and consumer engagement, addressing challenges such as inflation, supply chain issues, and shifting consumer priorities. Nestlé topped the entire list with approximately $104 billion in revenue and 4.7% year-over-year growth. The company invested in OpenAI’s GPT-4 for business intelligence, expanded e-commerce, and doubled its consumer data records in four years. We also piloted VR for research and development and used 3D technology at Purina Petcare to improve retail shelves.
PepsiCo Inc. was a close second, ranking No. 3 on the overall list and No. 1 among beverage companies. Despite suffering its first quarterly sales decline in 14 quarters in the fourth quarter of 2023, the company moves forward with its PepsiCo Positive sustainability program, replacing plastic rings with paperboard and strengthening its delivery system.
