After last night’s big victory, the Washington Nationals received bad news before today’s game. Their star Shortstop CJ Abrams is heading for Illinois for 10 days.

The news wasn’t so surprising after CJ finished the game yesterday. He reorganized the right hip flexor strain that kept him out of several games in the Dodgers series.

Instead, slick defender Nasim Nunes is approaching the big leagues. Expect Paul DeJohn to acquire the majority of his workload with Abrams’ absence shortstop. Jose Tena and Amed Rosario cover DeJohn’s regular 3 base spots.

This is a major blow not only to the CJ, but also to the public. Abrams posted an .874 OPS in his first 11 games and got off to a great start. He also hit four home runs at the time. His power/speed combination will really be missed at the top of the Nationals lineup.

Abrams comes out and I’m looking for Dillancru to bolster his game. He has a miserable start, but he has the talent to pick it up. Now is the time for him to show it.

This is a tough blow for the Nats after very good news last week. But they still need to take care of the business and win this road trip.
