When Michael Soroka appeared to have been out of the woods, the Nationals announced he was heading to 15 days of biceps IL.
When Soroka left the game, many fans feared the worst. However, Nats said it was a cramp in his biceps. However, that convulsion has now turned into tensions and trips to IL.
IL is a very familiar place for Michael Soroka. He missed multiple seasons with two different Achilles tears and had some arm issues as well. Soroka missed it Most of the second half I had a shoulder injury last year.
Instead of him, Natt is recall Jackson Rutledge. This spring, NATS actually converted their previous first round pick into multiple relief roles. He was effective after his first training this spring.
It will be interesting to see what the Nationals are doing in that rotation spot. I think they use a Rutledge and Blood Road combination to get through those innings. They can also just move Lord into rotation and make him the fifth starter.
The depth of the rotation was pre-season strength, but now it’s being challenged. DJ Herz has been on the shelf for a long time due to an elbow injury, and Soroka is still on the decline. With the start rotation, the image is much clearer.
