Brad Lord, working at Home Depot this winter, running Christmas trees I headed to the big leagues. The 25-year-old right-hander defeated the odds and is currently on the MLB roster.
This spring, Natt has been experimenting with Bloodlord in the bullpen role, and that’s clearly something they want to continue. The Lord posted more than six times this spring, but essentially all the damage came from one outing against the Rays. In his other eight appearances, he gave up on one run.
It’s a bit surprising that the Lord has broken the camp in the background of DJ Herz’s injury and Lord’s beginnings. Many thought he would be sent to the AAA to become the next man in the rotation. However, Nats decided he wanted him on the roster.
This should be a special moment for the 18th round of 2022, when it was never intended to do much more than the depth of the organization. However, the Lord’s Star 2024 season made this opportunity possible for him. He recorded a 2.43 ERA in 129.2 innings at three levels.
Lord is a long-time bullpen man to start the season and will be insured for rotation. Once the roster of 40 is full, the Nats must move to open the spot for the Lord. Will the Lord’s success continue in the big leagues? Who knows, even coming here is a huge victory for both the Lord and the organization.
