Mythical Entertainment is expanding its venture capital business, hiring Jawhara Tariq as senior vice president of strategy, corporate development and investments.
Tariq will be focused on maximizing growth and revenue, as well as overseeing the company’s $5 million venture capital fund, Mythical Ventures. Launched in 2021 as the Mythical Creator Accelerator, the fund invests in creator-owned and led media companies.
She will report to Mythical President Brian Flanagan. Tariq most recently served as vice president of strategy and chief of staff at Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, and previously worked at venture capital firms M13 and Moonshot Capital.
“Mythical’s ambition to be the definitive creator studio requires an executive of extraordinary talent,” Flanagan said in a statement. “Jauhara’s stellar track record as both an operator and investor indicated we would be fortunate to have her on the team, but what sealed the deal was her crystal clear vision for what creator-led companies mean for the future of Hollywood. Rhett, Link and I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes at Mythical, and across both our core business and our venture-backed businesses.”
“Creator entrepreneurs are the future of entertainment, and Rhett and Link have proven that with Mythical,” added Tariq. “Not only have they helped define the creator-led business model, but they’ve built a catalog of enduring content. We’re thrilled to join forces with them to engineer the next phase of growth, further shape Mythical as a next-generation studio, and invest in more best-in-class media companies.”
